Stan Settle
Born in Culpeper, VA in 1958, I was raised in Amissville, VA with twin siblings. Building anything always interested me so after high school, I went to work for the Highway Department where I helped with the building of Interstate 66. Eventually, an opportunity arose for me to join Prince William County where I helped develop one of the first Master Planned Communities in Northern VA. It was there that I started a career that has taken me so many places. I’ve always enjoyed people. They say “Stan has never met a stranger”. I guess that is true. In my business, I will often end up working with three generations. Grandad and Grandma had property that was left to Mom and Dad who then left it to the kids. The kids are usually the ones who come to me wanting to know what they can do with all this land. That’s where I come in. Many times, I’ve tried to buy the property for many years prior. It has been an absolute pleasure working with so many families and individuals over the years by either helping them develop, rezone or sell their property.
I offer over 40 years of property development experience in the Northern Virginia market, including 25 years with Fortune 500 company, Pulte Homes, where I worked my way up to become Vice President of Land Acquisitions and Development.
I have been involved in more than $2 billion in real estate transactions overseeing high profile projects throughout Northern Virginia. These have included rezoning to allow for Fairfax County’s first Smart Growth community, MetroWest, historic preservation projects such as the reuse of the Lorton Penitentiary property, and mixed-use projects including the Potomac Yard project in Alexandria, VA

My wife, Lisa, and I were married in 1994 where she became step-mom to my four amazing kids. We now have five grandchildren, four girls & one boy who love spending time with us here at Smith Mountain Lake. Lisa joined the real estate arena in 1996 where she worked for a couple of major builders in the Northern VA area until she decided to get her general brokerage license in 2010 and we started SettleLand & Realty, LLC
